Description

The trail is in the Central Balkan National Park and follows the Byala river, named for its foamy waters. The path takes you over small bridges, so that you can enjoy the beauty of the river from both banks. There are benches and gazebos along the way, where you can rest or simply stop to enjoy the rejuvenating atmosphere and the peaceful sounds of the river and the surrounding forest. The trail itself is in the shape of a figure 8, and near the end of the first circle on an elevation lies the small “Intercession of the Theotokos” monastery. The monastery is a vantage point with a view of the surrounding area. Along the trail you will see signs describing the species of animals and plants that reside in the Central Balkan national park. Some of the signs are interactive, with the information about the wildlife in the forest on one side, and the name of the respective animal or plant that’s being described written on the back, allowing you to test your knowledge – a fun exercise for both children and adults.

This eco-trail is near the town of Karlovo to the west, and Kazanlak to the east.

The price includes

  •  A guide
  •  Transfers to the area of the eco-trail

Notes
