Located in the southern Rhodope mountains, with 55 km of ski-runs and 38 km of skiing tracks, Pamporovo is one of the most popular ski resorts in Bulgaria among locals and tourists, families, couples and individual visitors alike. Every year as soon as the snowfall starts, the evergreen forests transform into a winter wonderland, and the area is known for its long periods of snow, mild temperatures that linger around -3 degrees Celsius for most of the ski season, and for how this side of the mountain stays sunny even as everything gets buried under a fluffy white blanket.

Pamporovo is within driving distance of the Three Smolyan Lakes eco-trail.

Pamporovo has two ski-zones with slopes ranging from green to black, ski schools,ski lifts, even nighttime skiing. One of its biggest attractions is Fun Park Pamporovo, a freestyle track which includes 3 rollers, a 4 m tall step-up, a flat PVC rail and a down PVC rail, a 4 -long rocket box and a 6 m-long flat box, the only half-pipe in Southeastern Europe, and an obstacle course suitable for expert skiers and snowboarders.

One of the most luxurious hotels in Pamporovo is Orlovetz, located in the very heart of the town.
